That was the result of a software error that, essentially, made the program not convert metric units back to imperial. Not quite a typo, but I think it deserves an honorable mention. Except for Google, and the Japanese Bank error, we're basically only told a typo was made. There are also no citations backing up any of these allegations. The car dealer with the scratch off tickets especially- why not offer an additional X amount off a new car, or $1,000 with purchase?
